CTEA Newsletter July 2016

Good Morning Members!

I hope you all enjoyed your first official day of summer and took full advantage of the longest day of the year. What a great way to start the week! I’m jumping the gun on July’s newsletter because I have so much good stuff to share with you all, I just can’t keep it to myself.
Congratulations to all of our members who competed at the final show of the spring season, Texas Rose Horse Park:
Christina Windsor- 7th place Open Prelim, Bryn Stryk- 12th place Jr. Training Rider, Scotti Evans- 5th place Sr. Training Rider, Laura Robinson- 7th place Open Novice, Kayleigh Holzmann- 18th place Jr. BN Rider, Patti Champion’s Invincible- 1st place Open BN, Rebecca Speer- 9th place Open BN, Kim Brunson- 12th place Open BN, Sarah Meredith- 3rd place Sr. BN Rider.
I’m sure many of you have seen or heard that Greenwood Farms Fall Horse Trials has been removed from the show schedule for 2015. Formal announcements will be made next month from the Area V board on what to expect for the fall season. The Area V board is going above and beyond to try and make everything run as smoothly as possible. Everything will work out for the best and I will update you all as soon as I know more about what to expect for the fall season. A BIG BIG BIG THANK YOU to Christie Tull for everything she has done for Area V. Christie put on incredible events, always went above and beyond for competitors, volunteers and spectators and always did it with a smile on your face. Thank you for your support and dedication to the sport of eventing!!
With the last show of the spring season in the books many of our members have qualified for AECs!! As of yesterday I counted 12 members who have qualified to make the trek to the AECs new home at Tryon International Equestrian Center in Mill Spring, North Carolina! Way to go members! If you are planning on making the trek, but would like to split travel cost with another person, please let me know and I will put you in touch with a few members who are looking to carpool.
CTEA would like to give a warm welcome to our newest returning members: Kayleigh Holzmann and Dawn Browder! Welcome back to our small but mighty club!
With long, hot summer days ahead, make sure you and your horse are staying cool and hydrated. If you are needing a few tips for how to beat the heat, check out Texas native and Rolex 4* competitor Jimmie Schramm and her husband Don Schramm’s “10 Tips for Keeping Your Horse Cool During The Summer”.
Until next time, stay cool and happy riding!
